Hi Leonard,
The only real reason to upgrade, is that as time goes on,
newer applications and hardware will not work with older operating systems.
Not to mention, that eventually, support for Windows XP will not be
available in later versions of Jaws
Microsoft will discontinue all support in 2014 for Windows XP,and
eventually, later versions of Internet Explorer will not be compatible with
Windows XP.
Now, whether Windows 7 is better than XP,well, that is the claim of
Microsoft, and the average user has no real way to tell if it is any more
secure
than the current operating system.
As for being faster, well, if you purchase a new machine with Win 7 on it,
it will no doubt be faster than an older machine, which is usually the case.
The best thing to do, is upgrade while you are not forced to, and draw your
own conclusions, because, it doesn't matter how good or bad others say it
is, the bottom line is how it works for you, and you can be guaranteed that
everyone will have different experiences with it.
Windows 7 hasn't been out that long, so I would think that as time goes on,
that Jaws inter-action with it will improve.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Subject: [JAWS-Users] windows 7 why
Earlier this week I asked a question regarding migrating to windows 7 from
XP Pro. I didn't get a response perhaps my description might have been
confusing. No problem. Let me ask this differently. Why should I migrate
to Window 7 from XP pro?
