Hi Cliff, there are services out there that will recover the data for you,
and/or repair the drive for you, and this can range in cost between 150
dollars to 500 dollars, depending on the extent of damage to the drive, as
well as if the drive is repairable.

On the other hand, there are also services where you can elect to have the
platters transferred over to a new drive, they recover the contents of the
drive off of the platters, and give you a new drive with your files intact.

Granted, there are files the recovery process will not be able to get, but
those are few and far between.

The price range for this service can be as low as 1200 dollars, to as high
as 5000 dollars, again, depending on the amount of work required.

It would be a good idea to shop around for services of this nature, as the
price range can very by as much as a thousand dollars.

Hope things work out for you, I had to pay 1200 dollars to recover all my
stuff on my external gigabyte drive, so I know and share your pain.

Take care.
