I had that issue a couple of days ago when I typed m.facebook.com but it
stopped doing that download nonsense yesterday.

I have never had to download anything when trying to access facebook
mobile.
I normally do not use facebook mobile and have only used the mobile site a
hand full of times i personally prefer the normal site. The full version
site provides more opportunities such as allowing you to use the chat
feature. The facebook mobile website is listed below.
