Hi,
If you are running the latest version, press control alt shift p to open the
preferences dialogue and uncheck the box which says when I quit skype
talking, also quit skype if running, then either press enter or tab to the
ok button and press space bar or enter.

What works for me is to set my status to Offline. When I do that, Skype
Talking does not work. At
least, this is how it works for me.

How can you shut off skype talking without signing out of skype?
Is there an edit field to make it longer before you hear who is on line,
because it seems like an minute passes by and I go off line or some one
comes on line?
