Thank You so much. I had no idea and wouldn't have found that on my
own. It is off, and i'm good to go.

Jon,
I am not sure what version of JAWS you are using or if it even matters
but I
use JAWS 10. I locate the option for turning off automatic reading of
emails
in JAWS verbosity (JAWS key or the insert key plus the letter V". I would
think it is the same for web pages. However I think using the method
above
is only for the particular page that you are on. I am not sure how to
change
it for any page though it may be that you add a shift key in the
combination. HTH

Subject: [JAWS-Users] turn off jaws auto-reading
Yello,
This is my first post with this group, and need help. I've looked
everywhere i could to find the answer to this problem, and have had no
luck. I'm looking to see if it is possible to make it so that jaws
will NOT read a web page when you open it. Like when you do a search
with google, and then it reads the number of headings, links,
graphics, and then proceds to read the entire web page without
stopping. normally you have to hit Control to stop it, but it is very
tedious. Is there a way that anyone knows about to stop it from
automatically reading a web page. I know what i want on a page, and
never have found anything useful from letting jaws read un-controlled.
I've looked all over the configeration manager, and didn't have any
luck, but might not know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for
any help, or pointers in the right direction...
Jon
