I am the list owner and you are correct that this discussion is getting way out there off the track so to speak.

Hi Guys.
I'm not the list owner, but wasn't this thread meant to have been closed down ages ago? This person isn't after 100 different opinions on the same subject. she just wants a simple straight answer and sitting here debating about this isn't going to help her in the slightest. I've personally tried windows 7 ultimate 32bit on a PC with jaws 11, 2GB of ram and a 320 GB hard drive. the pc in question had photoshop, office 2007, IE8 etc etc and they all ran fine with jaws running, and that was an AMD, i prefer intel personally. Also, please remember that we don't all have the money to shop for the latest and greatest, some users have said that she should get a really really high spec PC. its like when i'm advising and passing pc's on to the elderly. they just want something that just, well, works! not something that they can run the latest 3D games on, or the latest netbook with solid state storage, bluetooth and wireless. to them, the word bluetooth probably means talking about teath, literally. But that's besides the point. I'm not trying to say that jenny doesn't know what she's talking about, and i stand corrected if i have got any part of this email wrong in advance, i'm mearly saying that if she wants something basic, then advise her on that basis, and if people want to shop at superstores where things are a little expensive, there is nothing or very little one can do about that. I hate PC world, but many of the people i work with have shopped there, shoot me, my job is mearly to get them up and running. steve, i've just read your last. I agree with you, i provide technical support all the time as well as custom PC building, i'm from the days when we'd have dos on an old BBC computer, and if someone can get buy with what ever is good for them, so be it. Just my 2 cents or penny's worth depending on where you are.
Best wishes to you all,
Mo.

Hello Steve,

I don't know where you are shopping, but where ever it is, stop shopping there immediately, you're getting very ripped off. Grins.

Have you actually tried to run Jaws 11 on a windows 7 system with only 2 gigs or RAM?

I mean, have you actually physically tried it, or are you going on the basis of supposition and assumption?

The fact is, I've used computers running Windows 7 and Jaws 11 with only 2 gigs of RAM, please believe me, unless I was only running those two pieces of software, those being the OS and the screen reader, everything would indeed be fine, but load any other piece of software in addition to that, and things would start to lag dramatically.

As for the solid state drives being on 160, you're nuts.

One can get a netbook with a 10 inch screen, and a 250 gig solid state drive for 799, and that is running the latest and greatest software. I've seen it, and had a chance to play with it at the store where I saw it, so please, don't assume to speak for the entire population, because you most assuredly are not the entire population of the world, so you couldn't possibly speak for everyone.
