Josh:
You disabled only the touch pad. If you want to disable the mouse buttons
as well, go to Control Pannel, Mouse. The first menu you are on should be
the Buttons menu. Tab to Click Lock Turn On and check the box there. Then
Tab to Okay. This should disable your mouse buttons.

I searched for the little button on my Inspiron 1545 but had no luck in
finding it. However I did find in the control panel a mouse section and it
appears that it did turn the mouse pad off unchecking the enable button but
the left click button and the right click button right below the mouse pad
are still functioning. Is this normal if you get the mouse pad turned off
successfully or should it be completely disabled?

I don't know if there is a way to turn the touch pad off in settings but,
there should be a very small button at the center top edge of the touch
pad that will turn it off until or unless you push that little button
again. HTH

Speaking of the mouse pad on laptops is there a way to turn this feature
off in settings? If I can turn it off then I can see if maybe I am the
cause of Jaws jumping around.

I have had this happen to me off and on with the past few versions of
JAWS. For me it is not a JAWS issue. I use a laptop and there is a
touch pad for visual users to use to move the mouse around. There is
also a small button just above that touch pad that turns this touch pad
on and off. If I do not have the mouse touch pad turned off and I
accidentally touch the pad while typing, browsing or anything else the
cursor will jump focus and screw me all up and put me in a place I don't
want to be. I found that as long as I keep the mouse touch pad turned
off, I never have any problems keeping focus where I want it and
everything works fine. I hope this helps.

Sometimes when I'm writing an email, or writing in MS Word, the cursor
will jump and all of a sudden I'm typing in the middle of the previous
sentence or the previous paragraph. And I never know the cursor has
moved until I review my text and find it all mixed up. It doesn't
happen too often, but I can never figure out what makes the cursor
jump like that. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, is there
any way to keep it from happening?
