First, thanks much to Chris H who turned me on to www.totalrecorder.com on this list. I have been recently checking out diff programs to record audio off streaming audio or audio/video content and this product is superior at many levels. I've been playing with the trial ver this morning and delighted due to the following reasons which I have not found in any other such recorder I've explored. 1. totally accessible with Jaws with hot keys built into the software. 2. Lossless recording quality. So I am a huge obsessive audio phile and any app that degrades sound quality even one bit form the original is a deal breaker for me. I gotta say with the 'software' mode, and recording output set to 192kBPS stereo Mp3 I couldn't find any diff between the original and the recording. I tried this with some mp3 songs already on my PC to really be able to tell any diff and found no difff in the recording. Also distortion at high pitch/volume parts of this grunge song had zero distortion. 3.
Part of my recent research to record streaming content also was to use my GW Micro's BookSense's line-in to record on the BS off my PC. I gotta say that too dipped the recording quality noticeably and tended to add distortion especially at the high pitch/volume portions of the original. Besides that way is so much more cumbersome as u gotta have your PC, the BS and the 3.5mm-3.5mm cord. I am buying the Std Edition and recommend it to anyone remotely interested in recording off other devices or the internet.
