Hi Flor, Has he tried going in to the winamp preferences with control P and seeing if there is a file associations option in there? he could reinstall winamp, and make sure the audio file types option is selected? Has he tried the rightclick file and open with option where you can choose the program you want? Also, he could try going in to properties for the file, and clicking on the change button where it lists the program that the file opens with? If all else fails, there's a system in xp and i think in windows 7 called set program access and defaults where you can force windows to use a specific program to open a file, i'll look in to how to change this on windows7, let me know what does and doesn't work? I'd be happy to help off list if you prefer as well, its entirely up to you.

Hi Mo,

I've had this question come up on another list. How do you change Windows media player 12 from being the default player for any file types (such as mp3) even when you've selected Winamp to be your default? (I don't have Windows 7 myself; but have tried to help. he's tried most things, it would appear; but Windows media comes up automatically instead of Winamp.)

Hi Larry,
Yep, they certainly do!
Most things seem too to be honest, its not like with vista where people took ages to catch up...

Hi folks,
Despite my best efforts it looks like I will be migrating to
windows 7 in the near future.
My question is, do the 5.x versions of Winamp work in the
windows 7 environment?
