The charging connector on the back of your laptop, that the AC power plugs
into, is very delicate. It makes contact with the circuit board with little
solder tabs.
If this is your problem, you can get it repaired at select computer shops.
Not every computer tech will do this type of repair. It will cost $75-100.
Over a period of time, it isn't uncommon through rougher handling and even
normal wear-and-tear, for the connection to come loose. The way you'll know
is if you take the battery out, the PC will not power up at all when you
plug the AC connector in.
Normally, the battery should not be discharging when the laptop is connected
to external power.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] battery level percentage decreases when plugged
inrevisited
I asked previously why my battery level percentage continues to decrease
even with the power chord plugged in. The answer I received in essence was
to be certain all power connections where tight and securely plugged in
which after checking indicates that they are. I wonder why this is
happening. However, I still in addition I would like to know if this laptop
battery level keeps decreasing and reaches for example a zero percentage,
even when the power chord is connected shouldn't the laptop still function
like perhaps a desktop would perform? This would be ok since I treat this
full keyboard laptop like a desktop now anyway because I no longer haul it
around because I have a small netbook as my portable PC. Thanks.
