`Hi .doc and .txt files are not identical. They are different ways to format the document. Renaming the .doc file to .txt will not make it useable on the Victor Reader Stream. You have to use the Save as option in word to change the format.

When your desired file is open, open the file menu. Choose "save as". This will open a new save dialogue box. The focus will automatically be in the file name edit box. Tab once, and you will be in a combo box allowing you to change file types. Use the arrow keys until you here "text Dot T X T". Press enter twice, and you will have created a file identical to the one you have open, but with a .txt extention. You can also do this by placing the focus on the name of your file within your documents folder, and renaming the file which is an option found again in your file menu. Just retype the name, replacing the .doc extension with .txt. Hope this was helpful.
