There are scripts for Windows Live Mail. They are from Freedom Scientific
and shipped with JAWS. For me, they finally, with the last release of JAWS
11, work reasonably well!
The folder list can still be brought up with the Control + y hotkey.
However, I just noticed that it is only available when "Compact View
Shortcuts" is checked. To check this box, you must bring up the strange
"Layout..." menu item in the View menu. The trick in this dialog is that
the buttons are toggles to display more options for that opject. So to even
find this checkbox, you must Tab to the "Folder Pane" button, press Space
once to activate and display it's options. Then there will be a checkbox for
"Compact View" and one for "Compact View Shortcuts". I am not sure how the
Compact View is different. I also can not understand why they call the
folder list hotkey the "Compact View Shortcuts" when you do not need to be
in Compact View to use them.
I have not found a way to remove the folder list to the left of the message
list. Does it bother you that if you pressed Tab, you would land in the
folder list? If you prefer to move between folders with Control + y, does
it matter? Just never press Tab. You know, "Doctor, it hurts when...".

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Windows Live Mail Problem, really need some help.
In Outlook Express, running under Windows XP, I have the folder list tree
view edisabled. This way I have less clutter on my O E screen. Call me
weird, it's just how I like things. I prefer not being able to tab at all
when in my inbox, or for that mind, any folder. I know that with windows
live mail, this could pose an issue, as the accounts that I've created are
*also* in this tree view, apparently. Who's to say I can't go under
tools/accounts if I need to modify something, though. I'd like to make it
where I *have* to hit ctrl+Y to get to my folder list.
I tried going under the view menu and to layout in the Windows live mail
program, and I do see a button that says folder list, or something to that
effect. Sorry, I don't have it up right now in front of me. I tried to
use the jaws cursor to manually click the button, but jaws is reading the
layout dialog box horrendously! Hitting the space bar on the button as
well as hitting the enter key is seeming to have absolutely no effect. I
thought perhaps maybe that button was a toggle, but undoubtedly if it is,
jaws isn't letting me switch that payne off and on. Please guies. this
is literally the only! thing preventing me in windows 7, on my laptop,
from using it. I'm almost ready to make the switch. This is the only
awquard thing so far that I've found.
BTW, there aren't any scripts for WL Mail are there? I don't think there
are, as frankly, it doesn't really honestly look like I'm gonna need any,
but, if they're there, they'd be nice to have.
Thank you in advance for the quick responses.
Cordially,
Chris gilland.
