Hello Steve,

There are a couple ways you could use to transfer the DAISY files to your
Victor Stream. The first way would be to use Windows Explorer for copying,
pasting, and creating the destination folder. Another method would be to
use Humanware Companion. Although you can transfer just the MP3 files, if
you transfer all files including the SMIL, HTM, CSS, MP3 and others then you
can have the training information treated as a DAISY talking book and placed
in the talking books library. The first set of steps below are for
transferring using Windows Explorer. The second set of steps is for
transferring using Humanware Companion. You should have the latest firmware
from Humanware installed to the Victor Stream and use the newest release of
Humanware Companion. Both the firmware and Humanware Companion software can
be downloaded from the Humanware web site.

Transferring The Training Information Using Windows Explorer

1. Insert the SD card into the card slot of the computer or connect
the USB cable and have Windows recognize the Victor Stream as a removable
device.

2. If the auto play program comes into focus then choose to open
folder to view files using Windows Explorer. If Windows Explorer does not
appear then use Windows key with E to launch Windows Explorer.

3. Find your device or the SD card in the list of drives and press
enter to open it, or if there is a tree/list view then tab from the card or
device in the tree view into the list view.

4. Use down arrow key until you get to the $VRDTB folder and press
enter key to open it.

5. When you open the $VRDTB folder JAWS should say "not selected." If
by chance the focus moves to a folder and has it selected then use CTRL with
spacebar to deselect the item in the list.

6. Press the application key, press W followed by the enter key. Jaws
will tell you that focus is in an edit box and the folder name is "new
folder."

7. Without using any navigational keystroke, type in the name that you
want for the material being transferred and press enter key. If you use a
navigational key before typing in the folder name then you will need to
select everything in the edit box and type the new name in to replace the
existing text.

8. Use Windows key E to open a second occurrence of Windows Explorer.

9. Open the hard drive and find the program files folder and press
enter to open it. Press F until you get to the Freedom Scientific folder
and open it by pressing enter key. Press T until you hear JAWS announce the
training folder and press enter to open it. Press J until you hear the JAWS
folder announced and press enter key to open it. Press E to select the ENU
folder and open it by pressing enter key. Use down arrow to the name of the
training item that you want to transfer and press enter to open the
appropriate folder.

10. Select all files by using CTRL+A or choosing the "select all" choice
in the edit menu. (Use Alt+E to enter the edit menu if you use that method
for choosing "select all)."

11. Copy all items to the clipboard by using CTRL+C or by using the
application key to get a context menu and using down arrow to the "copy"
choice. Press enter on the copy choice if using the menu.

12. Use Alt+tab key to move back to the $VRDTB folder open in the other
Windows Explorer session.

13. Press the first letter of the new folder you created for these files
and press enter key to open it.

14. Use CTRL+V to paste the files or find paste in the edit menu using
Alt+e, using down arrow in the menu to the paste choice and pressing enter
key. Wait for all the files that you copied to the clipboard to be pasted.

15. Use Alt+f4 to close the Windows Explorer session. Use Alt+tab to move
to the other Windows Explorer session and close it by using Alt+f4.

16. Use the "Safe to Remove Hardware" wizard to remove the SD card or
device from being recognized by Windows. The idea is to make sure all
writing to the SD card or to the Stream using the USB cable has completed
before removing the card or disconnecting the cable.

17. Remove the card or disconnect the cable.

18. Turn the Victor Stream off if you used the SD card, insert the card
into the Victor Stream and turn the unit on again.

19. Browse to the Talking Books bookshelf and find the transferred file.
You should now be able to open it and navigate in it using the Victor Stream
navigating methods.

20. When you open the file, you can use key 9 to switch between the human
voice and the synthesized voice. If you use the synthesized voice, you will
find a search choice in the page menu. Press the page key until you find
the choice. It is not present when the human recorded voice is active.

Transferring the training information using Humanware Companion

1. Insert the SD card into the card slot of the computer or connect
the USB cable and have Windows recognize the Victor Stream as a removable
device.

2. If the auto play program comes into focus then close it by using
Alt+f4.

3. Locate the Humanware Companion icon on the desktop and open the
program.

4. Use tab key until you find the browse PC button and press spacebar.
The browse button is one tab past the PC talking books location edit/combo
box. If the edit/combo box is labeled as anything different than "PC
Talking books location" then use CTRL+T before finding the browse button and
pressing spacebar.

5. In the tree view that opens use the left arrow key several times
until you reach the hard drive level. With the hard drive level open, press
P until you get to program files and use right arrow to open that level.
Press F until you get to Freedom Scientific choice and use right arrow to
open that level. Press T until you get to the training choice and use right
arrow to open the level. Press J to find the choice for JAWS and use right
arrow to open the level. Use down arrow to the ENU folder and use right
arrow to open that level. Tab to the OK button and press enter key.

6. Use the shift+tab keystroke until you find the list of books that
can be transferred from the folder you chose.

7. Use down arrow key or up arrow key through the list of books and
use spacebar to mark those you want to be transferred to the Victor Stream.

8. Use the Alt+R keystroke to start the transferring process. .

9. When transfer is finished, a dialog box will appear with the OK
button in focus. Use spacebar on that button.

10. Humanware Companion will ask you to "Please wait" and then the list of
items will come back into focus.

11. Use Alt+f4 to close Humanware Companion.

12. You will be told by Humanware Companion that when you close the
program that the "Safe to Remove Hardware" wizard will be presented. Press
enter key on the OK button.

13. Use the Safe to Remove Hardware wizard.

14. Remove the card or disconnect the cable.

15. Turn the Victor Stream off if you used the SD card, insert the card
into the Victor Stream and turn the unit on again.

16. Browse to the Talking Books bookshelf and find the transferred file.
You should now be able to open it and navigate in it using the Victor Stream
navigating methods.

17. When you open the file, you can use key 9 to switch between the human
voice and the synthesized voice. If you use the synthesized voice, you will
find a search choice in the page menu. Press the page key until you find
the choice. It is not present when the human recorded voice is active.

Take care.

I would like to be able to transfer them to my VR Stream. I want the daisy
files so I can navigate by headings. I know I can get the MP3 files from
the website, but I didn't see a download link for all of the daisy files.

No need to worry about that because FS reader knows exactly where these
files are located. That is of course if all you are concerned about is
simply accessing them for the purpose of learning.
