Subject: [JAWS-Users] Introduction.
Hello,
For a couple of weeks now, I have been subscribed and had been using it.
I
found it worth subscribing and seem to learn a lot.
For everybody's kind information, I am a visually impaired man , working
as a teacher in the national institute for the visually impaired. By
profession, I am English language teacher but since 2003 have switched
over
to the teaching of computer to the blind. I really fancied when I heard
of
blind using the computer. Reading Braille materials on the use of computer
by the blind really fascinated me and appealed to the UNICEF for their
grant. I had the opportunity to undergo 3 months basic training in
Thailand
and later came back and started working.
For everybody's kind information, I am from Bhutan, a small nation to the
south of Tibet and north of India. It is a landlocked nation, sandwiched
between two huge giants, the super powers of Asia be it in trade or in
population. The school where I worked started in 1973, the only school
for
the blind in Bhutan.
After my training in Thailand, I decided to start computer training for
the
blind in Bhutan. Through the support of my Norwegian friends we started
project and set up the computer training center and programme for the
blind.
As a first blind person to learn computer in Bhutan, I thought it is my
obligation and convince the rest of the blind folks to learn computer.
Today
through the project, we have trained 30 blind people in the use of
computer
and have provided a laptop each and also teach as a separate subject from
the 1st grade to 8th grade.
Once again, it is a great opportunity to subscribe in this platform from
where I can learn a lot.
Thanking for your kind attention.

skype?
Hello there;
first with messenger;
open messenger,
when main window loads,
shift+tab until you hear;
toggle layout button,
press spacebar,
this should help.

If you have gotten skype and the latest version of windows live
essentials
to read fine, how have you achieved that? i can't seem to find any
options
apart from turning off the favourites bar, displaying contacts by their
status, turning off toolbars etc in live messenger and short of turning
on
the accessibility features in skype, which do little to improve
functionality in my opinion.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Alternatives to Windows Live Messenger and skype?
Hi.
I appologise if this question has already been answered or this issue
already delt with, but does anyone know of any good alternatives to
windows live messenger 2011 or skype 5.0? i am growing to dislike both
of these clients with a passion, and was just wondering if anyone knew
of any alternatives? i've heard of miranda IM, but can that be used
with
skype? are there any scripts for jaws to make using it easier i.e
automatic reading of incoming messages with msn? at the moment i'm
having to resort to TeamTalk which works a lot better than skype. It
doesn't help that skype want you to use their client and their client
only to connect to their servers.
Any thoughts/work arounds would be greatly apreciated!
Many thanks in advance,
Mo.
