Hi Betsy, I'm trying to install my Powerbraille 40.

Many years ago, when I got my laptop, I hooked up my Braille display from my Pac Mate to it. However, after my Braille Light died for the second time, I decided it was time to give up on it and make my
Pack Mate take its place.

To that end, I wanted to rehook up the USB Focus Braille display to its Pack Mate querty keyboard. This left my Laptop, with only USB connections, displayless. Thus, my struggles began with trying to figure out how to get my 16 year old, non-USB Power Braille to work with my laptop.

Well, that's probably loads more than you wanted to know, but "That's my story, and I'm sticking to it"!

Thanks again for your help, I'm sure it will work as you told me, as soon as I get the proper cord.

I'll let you know how it all turns out in the end.

Your friend, Vicky

Hi Vicki,
I'm curious to know what display you are trying to install. I recently installed an Apex and it was a little different. If that is the display you're working with, the instructions for installing the Apex driver are on the Humanware site.
I can email you the instructions off list if you would like.

Hi Betsy, Thank you for your helpful response! While I was following your instructions, I found out I will need to switch my serial to USB cord to a parallel to USB cord. When that is done, I'm sure all will work.
I'll let you know if it does.

Thanks again, Vicky

Vicki,
Just open JAWS, enter on Options, arrow down to braille, press enter, and tab across to Add braille display.

Hi, I need to either reinstall Jaws 11 or do a repair in order to get to the custom install, where I can pick the type of Braille display I want to add.

My question is, How do I tell the Jaws 11.01476.exe to let me add the Braille display.

Sorry that I can't make it any clearer than that.

Can anyone help me?

Many thanks! Vicky
