Good afternoon. I would recommend the Dell Precision laptops. It's what I use for school, and it is a workhorse. It contains a quad-core processor, so it can handle the processor intensive programs such as JAWS without causing lags in running programs, i.e. Word. I often use many programs simultaneously, such as JAWS with Magic, with Open Book and/or Kurzweil to help me navigate tricky course work from classes like biochemistry, where having some visual representation is absolutely necessary. I am running Windows 7 Pro, with Jaws 12, and Office 2010, and have no troubles other than my own ineptness. The screen is large, 17 inches, which uses up a lot of battery life. I typically get 2 hours out of a battery, so I have two. It contains a very spacious keyboard, with a built-in number pad, so there is no need to plug one in. You can look up the specs, but I've had mine for almost one year, and it's never given me any trouble. If I can answer any further questions for you, please feel free to write. My course load is heavy, so be patient with my reply time. Warmly, Melissa
