Read the JAWS help on this topic a few times, or read this a few times.

You have the JAWS general punctuation settings, [JAWS voices, individual voice adjustment, etc.], on one hand, and the Default Configuration manager Customize Punctuation on the other. Customize Punctuation - Set Options, [alt-s, p], allows for the muting of the speaking of particular punctuation signs - up to and at the level you have set the JAWS speaking of punctuation in general to. There is also an advanced... dialogue in the Customize Punctuation dialogue, where you can further refine where or how JAWS speaks or mutes a punctuation sign.

Thus, in order to silence a punctuation sign, in all or most SayAll situations, it's better to have the general JAWS punctuation set to All or Most; and then to change the radiobutton setting for the punctuation sign in the Customize Punctuation dialogue to All (or Most). Such settings will then hold when you reduce the general punctuation via the JAWS Voice Adjustment dialogue.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Punctuation during a "Say All"

Is it possible in Jaws 11, while reading with the "Say All" command, to have absolutely no punctuation announced? Those pesky ellipsis or sometimes quote signs can really break up the flow of the dialog!

Many thanks for any ideas! Vicky
