Who needs the Zen Stone anyway? The Coby MP2012 2gb MP3 player is very similar to the Zen Stone and is available from J&R Music World for only $14.99 with free shipping. Like the Zen Stone, the Coby MP2012 has no display screen or menus to navigate. It has only a few tactile buttons, so it is very basic and simple to operate. It requires no special software and you can use standard Windows Copy and Paste commands to transfer MP3 and non-protected WMA files to it. It runs on oneeasily replaceable AAA battery which provides up to 8 hours of playing time. This means that you never have to worry about non-replaceable rechargeable batteries like with the Zen Stone. With the Coby, you can carry around a few spare alkaline or NiH replaceable AAA batteries and swap them in and out as needed. The included earbuds are okay, but you can get even better sound by substituting a set of Sennheiser or Sony earbuds. So what if it doesn't have shuffle play or the ability to skip by folder? For under $15, it is a great value in an accessible MP3 player. Check it out:

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Accessible MP3 Player

Dear All,

I have not posted a message on this list for a number of years, but I have
found some of the tips on the list most helpful. One of these was a few
years ago when I read on the list about the Creative Zen Stone. This is an MP3 player that does not have a screen but can be operated with buttons. It
had an edge over the iPod Shuffle in that it could fast forward one folder
rather than one track at a time.

My Zen Stone has just broken down, and I can't find them for sale any more.
I am writing on the off chance that anyone on the list might be able to
suggest a similar MP3 player that I could purchase as a replacement. I
would prefer one with similar functionality to the Zen Stone. I have bought
a couple of Zen Stone players on eBay, but they were not of comparable
quality to the newer 2GB model. This is not the sort of device I would care
to buy second hand.

Another point in favour of a new player would be if it is able to play
Audible files. I can use the Book Courier for this, but it is a little
unwieldy for the jacket pocket. It is also not easy to navigate Audible
files with either the Zen Stone or iPod Shuffle.

I would be grateful for any suggestions on a replacement player.

Mark
