Hi everyone,

Sometime ago, I wrote a very knowledgeable friend about using disc clean up.
I gave him the following information.

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit. I did a disc clean up. All of the items in
the list were checked.

When I used some programs, I found them a little slower to respond. This was
most noticeable with the program, Openbook, my scanning program. Is this
normal?

His Answer

Sometimes programs are expecting to find their temp files and when you clean
them up it takes time to look for and re create the files. This is how some
programs keep notes about themselves. The newly created file is much
smaller than the one you deleted thus the faster operation after the first
run. As time goes by this file will get bigger and bigger, but you'll clean
it out every once in a while. That way it'll never get big and bloated.

If it seems that the program is not operating quite like how you'd like it
to try excluding it from the disc cleanup.

If anyone has seen this happening, please let me know, especially if you
have any further ideas for me.

Russ
