Hi,

i was also explaining for the benefit of other readers, those who don't know what mouseover is for. I might also add that, more often than not, the extra information available because of OnMouseOver links either isn't text or the onMouseover is for decorative effect. However, I've come across some Web site where there was specific information available only through the OnMouseover links.

Hi Flor,
I understand the layout of the settings center, and the use of the
mouse-over, but thank you for the explanation anyway.
My point, is that for someone that is not familiar with what mouse-over is,
in my opinion, the settings center is not any better than using the old
configuration manager.
I chose to eliminate Jaws speaking mouse-over, in the html options of the
speech and sounds manager, and not with the element attribute.
I don't browse the internet much which I am thankful for, and thus far, I
haven't had the need for
any of this extra verbiage.
Thanks,
Rick Justice

Rick,

one either types another word into the search edit, such as 'indicate'
as in, 'indicate element attribute'; or one tabs into the Tree View of
JAWS 'applications' (of which there are 20 at this point). From the list
here one goes into Web / HTML /PDFs, and, within that branch, then one
right-arrows into Miscellaneous when one gets down to that. (Now this
group 'Miscellaneous' is not the same as the other group of
'miscellaneous' settings further down the tree of applications!) The
indicate element attribute checkbox is, by default, checked. Sometimes
knowing that a link is OnMouseOver (and not a straightforward
'clickable' link) is important, as the extra info that that link
contains is accessible only by 'hovering' the 'mouse over' it. (In JAWS
the OnMouseover keystroke is Ctrl+JAWSKey+Enter. It doesn't operate if
the indicate element attribute checkbox is unchecked. )

Hi David,
Well, looks like I owe Mandy an apology, since I thought all you would
have
to do in the new settings center
was type a word you were looking for, and it's great capability would
find
it.
If you can't find this setting with a word search, and weren't familiar
with
all of Jaws settings,
how does one effectively use the settings center?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake.

I did not find anything about Mouse over in the two entries that came
up.
