Hi Joanne, Use JAWS key with the number 6 to bring up the settings center. To have changes apply to all programs load the default settings file by using CTRL+Shift+D. Ignore the last step if changes are to be for the active application only. In the search box type the words "screen echo" without the quotes and wait just a second or so for JAWS to find the results. Tab to the one result that should come up, and it should be for screen echo. Use spacebar to cycle between choices. After selecting the choice for screen echo to only echo highlighted text, tab to the OK button and press enter key or spacebar. If that doesn't cause only highlighted text to be echoed then something else is going on and more troubleshooting will be necessary.
