Greg, I suggest along with hans that you avoid checking any of the boxes you are offered when Explorer 9 is set up. Things like Suggested Sites only confuse the reading.
As for converting favorites from 8 to 9, don't worry about that. My upgrade did carry all of the favorites directly into Explorer 9. I find it a great deal more user friendly than 8 was. However, there have been several messages on this list which indicate that other members have had some difficulty. With that in mind, I believe that a lot has to deal with the individual computer user's experience and ability. Every system is different because its user is different.
