HI Elf,

I have Automatic Downloads set at, Download updates for me, but let me 
choose when to install them.  I haven't had any problems using this setting 
in the 2 years or so, that I have been running MSSE.  I did notice that MSSE 
does update daily if not more often.  I have installed that Ninite program 
so, we'll see how that works, & I will check on it, manually, more often.

  mike do you have your automatic updates turned completely off? if so 
that's
  your problem, your not getting your updates to MSE due to there being
  auto-dispensed through windows automatic update!
