When you mention the Focus40, I took it to mean the Focus40 Blue. I recently got the Focus40 Blue and am using JAWS12., which works well with it. The good thing is that it also works well with all previous versions of JAWS that I have, going back to JAWS8. I might suggest, therefore, download and install the demo of JAWS12 and, if/when removing JAWS12 keep shared components. There is no need for the Focus40 Blue CD driver with JAWS12.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 11, Focus 40 and IE 8

Hi everybody,

This is my first time writing to the list.

I have a big problem. My friend used to access the internet with Internet Explorer 7, Jaws 8 and a Focus 40 braille refresher. Since her web browser went to version 8 of IE, she cannot use Jaws 9 (for example, when she tries to type something in Google, Jaws acts as if she was employing a shortcut, I tried pressing enter before typing and it still acts the same way). In this case, the braille refresher is working. When she switches to Jaws 11, the braille refresher does not work at all, not in IE and not on the Desktop or
Notepad for example.

I think, and this is where I need your help, that the braille refresher is not compatible with Jaws 11. If this is not the case, what could cause that situation? I reinstalled the braille refresher driver, I checked in Jaws 11 that USB was chosen for the braille refresher, I changed where the USB was pluged. I also tried to revert (against my preferences) IE to version 7 but
couldn't. I don't know what else to try.

Can somebody help, please?

Mireille
