I am really happy that they included this feature! I had written this
capability into scrippts ever since JAWS 9. I find it very helpful for
large tables. I wanted to quickly move through the TV listings grid on
TitanTV.com. Not all HTML tables properly label their headers. At some
point in JAWS 12 updates, the default for announcing headers is for
labeled table headers only. The TitanTV.com site, like many other sites
do not properly label their headers. The new Quick Settings dialog now
allows me to set the persistence of this setting. I set it to announce
column and row headings. Now it automatically announces the channel and
time for each program as I simply arrow around the grid without needing
any user scripts!
I also use this feature on many tables because it makes it clearer where
you are in a table, especially if laid out sensibly.

There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any
real substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I
am working on things that matter.
