I have mine set to text view - but this also provides an alphabetical artist list with the songs on each album listed together and in order. By tabbing around, you will see a list of the artists you have added- which you can arrow up/down to select one. Then hit F6 several times or shift-tab once and you'll get back to your song list and you'll only see songs by that one artist.
Jonathan's FS Casts on iTunes at the beginning of this year really helped get me started with so much info that I could not begin to re-create it all in a message.
