I just looked through some of my saved messages and came across this:
I hope it helps you.
This weekend I put much work into rewriting some internals so that my
JAWS scripts would work with Thunderbird 5.0 and 6.0. If anyone would
like to try them and report feedback to the list, they are located at
http://EmpowermentZone.com/tb_scr.exe
or use a .zip extension instead for a manual install.
Since Mozilla dropped MSAA info about message threads, these scripts use
heuristics to determine the number of messages in a thread and the
relative position in it. This is mainly done by analyzing message
subjects. Based on my testing, the heuristics are generally accurate,
but not always so. Pressing Control+Shift+A to select all messages in
the current thread will accurately report the number of messages in the
thread. I suggest sorting messages by thread and expanding all threads
with the * key before moving through the inbox.
I found that the scripts work best if TB is configured to open a new
message in a new window. Otherwise, pressing Enter on a message does
not automatically read it. Also, there is something different about the
unified folder view, so I recommend opening each message folder
individually.
If reporting a problem, please be as specific as possible, including
JAWS, TB, and Windows versions, and steps to reproduce the problem, if
possible. Use Insert+Q to confirm whether the scripts are associated
with TB (it should say "Homer Thunderbird settings").
