I had a very weird experience with the DecTalk USB as the default profile.
All of a sudden, out of the blue, the voice came from my speakers as high
pitched and as fast as possible. No matter what I tried, I could not get
the DecTalk to function, so I uninstalled JAWS 11 totally and then
reinstalled it.
I had DecTalk working beautifully and guess what? The voice did the same
thing, coming through my speakers as rapidly and as high pitched as
possible.
Now I have removed the DecTalk and am using SAPI DecTalk, so I'll see how
things go from here. I like the external synthesizer because I do not like
JAWS coming from the same speakers music or movies come from.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? If so, were you able to get
DecTalk USB to function without this nonsense happening?

did you install the driver that came with your ductal usb? it's on a cd
or can be downloaded from www.axsol.com hope this helps.
am running 7 here but it's the same for vista.
