Hi gang. I am happy to report that I was able to fix my broken video intercept
and restore JAWS 9 to normal. It turns out that the simplest solutions often
work best. I called FS tech support, and right away, the guy I spoke to wanted
me to rip out my video drivers and reinstall them from scratch. Whoa, I said.
Can't I first try to fix the broken video intercept by simply reinstalling it
from the executable file using NVDA? The guy sounded skeptical that this would
work, but he told me to give it a try, and if it didn't work, then I would most
likely have to reinstall my video drivers, which he claimed might require
sighted help. So using NVDA, I installed the video intercept from the .exe
file I had saved from the link Mike provided, and lo and behold, JAWS9 was
restored to normal. No more video intercept error, and all functions appear to
be working correctly. I didn't even have to uninstall the broken video
intercept first. Just goes to show you how much they know. So the lesson from
this little experience is that if you ever encounter a video intercept error,
the first thing to try is to download the video intercept .exe file and install
it using NVDA or Narrator. No need to uninstall the old video intercept first.
No need to remove and then re-install JAWS. Thanks, guys, for all your help.
