Yes, you can do it that way.
I try to avoid the delete key, just because I've gotten a bit crazy with it
by accident before. (grin) But, that is a quicker way.

Can't you just highlight the folder and tap delete
or if not try highlighting the folder and tap the application key and up
to delete
I use WLM so not sure just a hunch
