Well, still had the problem of JAWS not starting at the top. besides, I like to hear how many links the 'page' has. now, this brings me to another issue which I'd been meaning to raise.

has anyone had OCR_Server error messages? Frequently, when I unload JAWS because it's been performing sluggishly, I get the windows bong sound, and either then or when I restart JAWS there's an error message about ocr_server.exe. (I can see it on the braille display.) when I press enter at that point it goes away. If I don't, and JAWS unloads and I restart JAWS, I see the error message waiting.) And yes, it happens when using outlook Express or any other program, and it happened just now in outlook Express. Sometimes I close ocr-server from the Task manager. It's been happening from the release of JAWS13. Is JAWS seeing FineReader and also Kurzweil 1000 on my system? no interference there, surely? When i invoke the convenient OCR it works fine.

Hi Flor,

Below are the settings I changed in Quick Settings that helped quite a bit.
These are the settings I changed to make Jaws read better in Outlook
Express;
1. Go into Quick Settings, Jaws key + V.
2. Arrow down to, Message Header Field With Message Announcement, & uncheck
this box.
3. Arrow down to, Web frames and Link Count Announcement, & uncheck this
box.
4. Press enter, to save your changes & close quick settings.

These settings helped me hopefully they will help others as well. Take
care.
Mike

 yes! JAWS starts reading somewhere, and then goes back to the top
(sometimes), and reads. Outlook Express and windows XP. it didn't use to
 do this in JAWS13.0.638.
