If you wish for jaws to just be quiet why not try:
insert space bar and hear the click and tap the letter s
This is a toggle for speech on and off
I use it mostly when my sighted friends need to use my computer for a moment
Give it a try

If you are using JAWS 13, sleep mode is found in the settings center under
the miscellaneous options. From within your game, press insert+6. I don't
know whether your game is on the web or is a separate application. If it is
a separate application, JAWS will invite you to create a configuration for
it, and you want to do so. Once you say yes, go into settings center,
either search for sleep or tab to the list of options and press m for
miscellaneous, right arrow, down arrow or s for sleep mode, space to toggle.
If on the other hand this is just a web-based game of some sort, you can put
jaws to sleep temporarily but you'll have to work out how to wake it up
later.
