Hi Arianna,
You are probably asking the wrong person.
I have multiple audio programs on my systems,
because I have found over the years that the programs that I've tried that
claim to do it all,
end up not doing any of it well.
They have usually been too cumbersome or lack good accessibility.
So, I find a program that does a particular task well, and dedicate it to
that task.
I use one for listening to music, one for ripping cd's, one for burning cd's
and another for recording etc.
I am not one to use the latest and so-called greatest, I like to stick with
what works for me, until it doesn't anymore.
So, I would say to you, that if you are comfortable with what you have, use
it, and maybe dedicate the VLC Media Player to videos.
Just my opinion, others may have different recommendations.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Rick, would it be a good idea to make VLC my default player? Would it be
able to handle anything my computer would be playing--music, downloaded
movies, DVD'S, CD'S? And how do I make it the default player if I can use
it as such?

Thanks for any help.

Arianna
