Ann Marie:  if you're really desperate, and you have access to a printer and a 
scanner, you might try printing then scanning this document.  It's not a good 
solution by any means, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I really appreciate everyone's input on this subject.  Does anyone know how to 
use the new Jaws OCR?  I cannot remember the command and wondering if someone 
could explain how it might work?
I cleaned up my PC awhile ago and deleted Adobe reader but downloaded it again 
and still empty doc.  So then I tried to save as text document and still empty.
I saved as text document in OpenBook and it is somewhat intelligent.
