I set the list for text only in the hope to prevent any nasty bugs from 
getting transferred, and add the fact that the server does run it's own anti 
virus scans on all messages.

it didn't, probably because messages are received as plain text by the
list. You need to say it must be an HTML message. But I did it for
myself, and, it works! I had often wondered how
people did this, 'click here' or 'John's home page', link when writing
their Blogs.
