I tried the method shared below by Josh such as hitting p until I reach
personalized web settings and then went ahead and changed/okayed
inline frames to be displayed/on. I did this by hitting insert v while
having the particular web page open in my browser.
However inline frames still were hidden away and not recognized by
JAWS which is the same behavior as when I had inline frames to be
hidden. So personalized web settings at least in JFW13 is still
broken.
When I go to the default settings in the settings center and change
inline frames to be spoken, then I can indeed hear inline frame
content by JAWS. However this is a deal breaker as it reads inline
frames for every single web page and site.

help system
Hi Josh,
Thank you very much for the clarification.
As Flor pointed out, in a later post than yours, the personalized
settings
help file I had referred to was from an earlier build of Jaws 13 & I
was
totally wrong for posting that incorrect information. Thanks again
for
posting the correct info. Take care.
Mike

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Personalized settings, straight from JAWS help
system
Folks, here's what I have from the JAWS help regarding personalized
settings.
Hope it clears things up.
Josh
Personalized Web Settings
Personalized Web settings allow you to make changes to JAWS that
affect
only a specific Web site. JAWS remembers these settings and loads them
each
time you visit the Web site again.
Personalized Web settings apply to any page under the domain or
subdomain
where you make the changes. For example, if you opened the page
www.freedomscientific.com/training.asp and personalized the page,
changes
would apply to any page under www.freedomscientific.com. However, if
you
made changes somewhere on shopping.yahoo.com, those settings would not
apply
to a page such as mail.yahoo.com because the subdomain is different.
JAWS
informs you when you visit a domain that has personalized settings.
You can personalize many types of Web settings. For example:
a.. Prevent Web sites from automatically refreshing, so the
information
does not reload and cause JAWS to read from the top of the page all
over
again.
b.. Turn off graphic links on sites where alternate text is not
provided
or where the graphic links do not provide useful information.
c.. Turn off heading announcement when headings are not used to
structure information on a page.
d.. Turn off navigation quick keys on pages that use certain types
of
access keys so the keys do not conflict.
e.. Personalize Web settings for forms, frames, lists, and long
quotations.
Personalizing Web Settings
Do the following to create or modify personalized settings for a Web
page.
Note that changes made are saved permanently to JSI files (for
example,
FreedomScientific.com.jsi) and do not apply to other Web pages. JSI
files
are stored in the PersonalizedSettings folder, which can be found by
choosing the Start button, All Programs, JAWS X (where X is the JAWS
version
number), Explore JAWS, and then the Explore My Settings folder.
1.. Press INSERT+V to open the Quick Settings dialog box. Focus is
in
the Search edit box.
2.. Press DOWN ARROW to move to the Quick Settings tree view.
3.. Press P to move to the Personalize Web Settings group. If
necessary,
press RIGHT ARROW to expand the group.
4.. Press DOWN ARROW to move to the different options and groups
within
Personalize Web Settings, and press SPACEBAR to make changes.
5.. After making all necessary changes, press TAB to move to the OK
button and then press SPACEBAR to save changes and exit Quick
Settings.
Sharing Personalized Web Settings
There are two ways to share personalized Web settings: using Settings
Packager or manually copying the JSI file.
Settings Packager
Settings Packager is a program that lets you save speech and sound
schemes, PlaceMarkers, and personalized Web settings in a compressed
ZIP
file that you can send in an e-mail message, post on a Web site, or
copy to
removable storage media. You can also use Settings Packager to import
the
settings contained in these ZIP files into JAWS.
To start Settings Packager, press INSERT+F2, select "Settings
Packager,"
and then press ENTER. For more information on using this program, open
the
Settings Packager Help menu and choose Help Topics.
Copying JSI Files
Do the following to manually share your personalized settings with
other
JAWS users.
1.. Choose the Start button, and then All Programs.
2.. Navigate to the JAWS program group, and open the JAWS program
submenu.
3.. A folder opens that contains all of your individual JAWS
settings.
4.. Select the PersonalizedSettings folder and press ENTER to open
it.
5.. Locate the JSI file with the domain name of the page that uses
the
personalized settings you want to share. For example:
"FreedomScientific.com.jsi."
6.. Copy this file and distribute it to others. Those you share
your JSI
file with then need to copy the JSI file into their user folder on
their
computer following the steps above. They can now use that Web domain
with
your personalized settings.
