Unfortunately, it is common practice for agencies and employers not to purchase SMA's or upgrades. In fact, it is the case here with me. My employer purchased JAWS 3.7u for me in 2001, and if it were up to them, I'd be using it today. I am using JAWS 13 because i have paid for SMA's out of pocket, and there are other blind employees here, but they are all using the version of JFW that was bought for them originally. It is also to be noted that all PC's here, for blind or sighted employees, are still using Windows XP, IE 6, and MS Office 2007, which we just got about a year ago. Talk about keeping up with the times? What truly stinks is that my vr councelor did not purchase the S M A where I can get jaws 14 and this is upsetting. To tell you the truth, I cannot even update jaws 13.825 because after it downloads it states that I have to make some fixes that are difficult to make. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Howard Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2012 4:52 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Is FS Really Giving Up On JAWS 13? howard wolcott -------------------------------------------------- From: "Gerald Levy" <[email protected]> hi: well, since an update was released late last month it seems to me the rumor is flat out wrong.
