Not everyone wants to delete messages on exit, I don't because generally just after I have done that I need a message that just went away. I do mine every few days to every month, amazing when you look at all the e-mail you have received in one month, in January it was something like 8000 messages in there when I deleted them on February second.
Normally I don't let it go that high but I sort of wanted to see how much e-mail I was getting and that did not include the e-mail that comes to one of my gmail.com address. So, if you do not want it automatically Alt H, move across the ribbon until you hear folder, then start moving the right arrow until you find it, it takes quite a few arrows. I do it so fast now that it takes almost no time unless I am distracted. In the categories list box use the letter A to move to the Advance category. Use Alt+E to move to the checkbox that determines if the deleted folder is emptied when exiting Outlook.
