The jaws Basic Training does come in audio. I think much better than
explaining on here is you trying it out. Install the FS Reader
program that comes with your jaws cd and use it to play the training material.
It is quite hard to explain and understandsomething that you are not
familiar with.
Also, you may want to look at
http://www.daisy.org/
which is the home of the DAISY Project. It will probably explain what
Daisy is all about far better than my feeble attempts at doing so.

I really appreciate your help, even though I am not the Richard you
are thinking of.
Now that you mention it, I am aware of the NLS using Daisy format
and that is why I got confused seeing it listed in JAWS.
I assumed that any help topic would be read by JAWS and still don't
understand why JAWS would use Daisy format.
Unless, the help topic is an audio item?
Thanks for your patience and help.

Hi, Richard,
Are you not the Richard I know from first for-the-people and more
recently from anohter chat site?
NLS is short for "National Library Service" and it traditionally
had audio books on 4-track tapes that required special hardware
players to play the cassette tapes. more recently they have gone to
digital audio books that either come on cartridges for their
hproprietary players or such players like the Victor Stream.
you cannot play the nls books with windows media player but they
are talking books.
the jaws tutorials can be had in either daisy or mp3 format. If you
are more comfortable using Winamp or windows media player, you can
get them in mp3 format and use them that way.
And sorry if I got you mixed up with another Richard.

Dear Sir Richard,
The jaws tutoirals and help files FS puts out come in daisy
format. "Daisy" is an accessible audio and/or text that provides
for easy navigation by the reader. If you get nls contnet from
the BARD download site, this is in daisy format also. While nls
content requires a hardware player, many daisy books can be read
on the computer. the FS reader program that comes budnled with
jaws is such a daisy player program. Once you get the hang of it,
you'll appreciate it I am sure.

Hi all;
I apologize if this question is too basic.
I've noticed on the "updates" list in 13.0, many topics to
update had "Daisy book" at the end.
For example, Convenient OCR daisy book.
Could someone explain what that means?
Is that update only to be used when using "daisy book"?
What is Daisy books?
Thank you for the enlightenment!
Rich
