What you are seeing below is the status edit field. When you open up
the message window. You shouldn't see any of the "What is on your
mind?". You should have a message window asking you who you want to
send it to, a edit field for message, check box for photo, send and
cancel button. If you don't see that then your not in the message window.

That is writing on there wall. For messages you have to click on it on your
own wall.
