another thing that would probably work would be to route jaws to pc cursor, and then hit the jaws cursor key twice fast for the invisible cursor, this way you can switch cursors, read the area where your at and see what box your in.
the trouble is a ridge text box is not a regular html item but a microsoft item (your probably running into a site made with asp) and movement is by tabbing, but as you said that skips over the header. I think the invisible cursor is your best route. hth in the future, elf .
