Colon and right paren is either, I think, a smiley face or a grin.

Hi Stephanie,
Try the following:
1. Press Insert + D, for the dictionary manager & then, press control,
shift, + D, for the default dictionary manager. You want to use the
default
dictionary manager so Jaws will read the smiley face symbol in all
applications.
2. Tab to the, Add button & press the spacebar to open the Actual Word
edit
field.
3. Type in, :-), that is, colon dash right paran.). From my
understanding
the correct symbols for the smiley face are the colon, dash, & right
paran.
If I'm wrong, will someone please correct me?!
4. Tab 1 time to the, Replacement Word, edit field, & type in, smiley
face,
or, whatever you want Jaws to say whenever you come across this group
of
punctuation marks / symbols.
5. Tab to the okay button & press the spacebar. Press control + S to
save
your changes & Alt + F4 to close.
Hope this helped.
Take care.
Mike

Hi Stephanie,
I don't use it that often but I go to the Jaws window then type
insert+d to
get to the Jaws dictionaryManager.
Hopefully this will get you started.
Pete
