Grawv Key

Hi,

yes, Mike: I found it after diligent searching (and keeping in mind the
question you were trying (and dying) to ask!?) Other explanations I came
across were not basic or clear enough for 'know-nothings'. .

Mike,

Both are American codes. ANSI is the character code used on early
Windows-based computers. ASCII predates this. ANSI has 256 characters,
and is the code that can be read by JAWS. ASCII is not JAWS read. .
ASCII basically has 128 characters, though more were added later (high
ASCII characters).

Hi Flor,

Thank you for the correction! Personally I haven't figured out the
difference between the 2 but, I guess it's about time I do!
Take care.

Ay Mike,

You get the ANSI number (not the ASCII number). LOL

Keep laughing!

Hi Janie,

I just tried your suggestion & if you press the gráv key in Notepad or
Outlook Express, it places a gráv symbol there but, Jaws reads it as
space.
I checked it by pressing the 5 key on the numpad 3 times with the gráv /
space highlighted & got character 96 which is the ascii number for the
gráv
key. HTH
Take care.

Hey Mike
When we change the grav/accent key to space bar
you can now use the accent/grav as an alternate space bar
Quite handy

Hello Mike
I used the dictionary manager and I typed in the grav key for add and
replacement I used the space bar so it just puts a space there instead
is
this what you wanted?

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to stop Jaws from saying, grawv / gráv, when
pressing
the grawv key? I've tried various ways in the dictionary manager but,
haven't had any success! All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank
you
very much.
Take care.
