Any experience with the built in Dell backup recovery utility? I've got a Vostro 3750 and never really paid attention to all the dell extras that came with it, but noticed that it does come with this feature. Image for Windows sounds good, but before I go and purchase something...

It's not free, but when I bought it, if you are using it for personal use only, one license was good for 3 PCs. It does not do incremental backups. But it does do differential backups and full backups instead. The advantage with differential backups is that if you ever need to restore everything, you only need the latest full backup and the latest differential backup instead of needing the latest full backup and all the incremental backups since then. If you just need to restore some files, using the program TBIView with the latest full and differential backups, you can find the files you need and copy them to where they need to go using copy and paste. This program is a part of the Image for Windows package. There are several choices for compressing the backup files. These programs are JAWS accessible if you are using them in Windows. The only exception is if you have to do a restore of your entire system, which means that Windows is not available. It that case you have to use DOS or Linux to perform the restore. You can find some tutorials for this program on the JAWS-Users site. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Csaba Godo Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2013 01:22 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Looking for JAWS compatible backup software Hi Christobal, The problem with the built-in Windows backup feature is that is does not saves EXE files in normal incremental backups. In my case I could not backup incrementally my development folder structure and its content. I had problems with it during backing up my e-mails, too. Some mails are not backed up. The other problem with it, that it does not compress the disk image type backups. It makes only a file-to-file copy as disk image. You can not restore it to an empty disk as a one-click-restore. Currently I use Norton Ghost, but it is not fully JAWS compatible.
