If it is a .AVI, it will need to be converted if you wish to play it in a 
standard dvd player.
I use DVDFlick, I think that will do it and it is brilliant and free.

what format is the movie in that you wish to burn to dvd? i use nero burning 
rom to create my dvd's with no trouble at all.
