hey Tom, Get yourself a wireless one that is full size as for desktop, it's what I use with my laptop, all the keys are the same as for a desktop keyboard, and wireless just makes it more handy. I've taken mine in a suitcase on the bus..plane..thing is indestructable,lol You get a little plug goes in a USB slot on your laptop. Mine is a Microsoft wireless keyboard purchased from Amazon for around $40 It uses 2 double A batteries.
