Hay there Kelsey.
When sinking your ipod you will no when its safe to unplug it when you
try to close iTunes with altF4, it will ask you are you sure you want to
quit sinking?
also when its done, you will here a tone like the one when iTunes is
done downloading something.
to creat a cd in iTunes, add all the songs you want to burn to a playlist.
Then, press Shift+F10, and look for burn playlist to disk.
