Does his machine give a ding or error sound when he presses those keys? If so, then there is something wrong with outlook Express there. . The following is very basic, and may seem too basic, but so as not to overlook the obvious: What happens if he presses just the alt key by itself, from the message list. Focus should then be on "file menu". Then use right - and left-arrow which should bring up the top of the Edit; View; message; tools; and help, menus. Does he have JAWS completely unloaded when using NVDA? (you can have the two running together, for some reasons in some circumstances.)

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problem with Outlook Express 6

Hi all,

My friend have a problem with Outlook Express 6. He uses Windows XP. The problem is the following: IN OE it is impossible to get the menubar and the menuitems by pressing ALT key + the calling letters. So If he presses ALT+F the program does not get the focus to the File menu end does not open it. This problem exists only in OE and this symptom is not JAWS specific. It happens with NVDA, too. What could be the reason? Can anybody help to solve it?

Thanks in advance,

Csaba from Hungary
