can you just go to the help menu and find check for updates?

I have switched on my xp old laptop this morning and it still does not
prompt me to update nor is the option in the check for updates under jaws

I have installed Jaws using the download option. I restarted my computer
this afternoon and it would still not come up when I did that and when I
checked for updates.
So far, I have not had any problems.
