I have been using GW connect for several years already because Skype is such a moving target. The only reason I took another look at Skype itself is because Eric mentioned updated support for the program. It does seem to be as advertised and I do need to review the hotkeys ETC but it was more manageable in the few minutes I had to mess around with it last evening. I will look at it again today some time. I try and review any and all updates in JAWS that pertain to me in order to give myself as complete a picture as possible.
Skype itself has video support which is not a major deal but the last time I spoke to my brother he insisted I turn on my camera. Then he complained it wasn't in HD, some peoples' kids. I told him that he should already know what I look like since he only lives across town from here. I might go back to using Skype more often depending on some other factors, but without scripting support from JAWS it would be worthless for the most part. Quite sad if you think about it, just because an interface can be made all fancy why do all of that work to put out a free program. What about GWConnect? GWConnect is a fully accessible Skype client. I use GWConnect for Skype and it works fine so far for text chat and calling. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: 12. september 2013 13:05 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS 15 beta I should also add and sorry for forgetting that all of my interactive scripts have transferred over so all of the customizations I have implemented are working properly. Running this list causes me to bring up my menu for approving held messages at least 20 times a day if not more. If anybody is curious how I do that there is a tutorial on the server. So in short the beta seems fine so far. I just wish the Skype people wouldn't go so far out of their way to make the program as confusing as it is right now. Last year when those voices came out I was working with one of them and I found out about the capital letter problem at an in opportune moment, so I am glad to see that has been fixed. I'm still kicking the tires so to speak but I have no problems at all so far boys and girls.
